What is ISO 14001?

 ISO 14001 or Environmental Management System is a framework that allows an organization to consistently control its significant environmental impact on the environment and continually improve its business operations. ISO 14001 is created based on basic concept, where an organization is required to identify all environmental aspect related with their activities and processes and determine what are the impacts caused by identified aspects to the environment, taking into consideration legal and other requirements that applies to its activities and processes. Once identification of environmental aspect and impact is completed, organization is required to take all necessary action to control the impacts, especially those classified as significant environmental impact. Necessary action includes setting up environmental policy, objectives and targets and followed by other action to comply and achieve the established policy, objectives and targets.  ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized Standard that defines the requirements for establishing, implementing and maintaining an effective Environmental Management System.
